Dr. Ashley Suraweera received her Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA and a Master of Science degree at Creighton University. She later received her Medical Degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. Given her interest in working with underserved communities, she was drawn to UCLA- Olive View where she completed her Internal Medicine residency and stayed on for an additional year as Chief Resident. After Chief residency, Dr. Suraweera joined the UCLA Hospitalist Division working in the community while also rotating at Olive View as an attending on wards. She returned back to Olive View full-time as an Associate Program Director in 2024 joining the hospitalist division. Dr. Suraweera’s professional interests include medical education, fostering mentorship during training and working to increase representation of women in medicine through organizations like American Medical Women’s Association.
