Background:
Dr. Robert Decker moved to Los Angeles from NYC at age 12. He attended Fairfax High School, then graduated UCLA and also obtained his MA in Molecular Biology there. He received his MD from UC Davis, and did his internal medicine residency, and chief residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He did his hematology-oncology fellowship at UCLA, doing clinical research and specializing in bone marrow transplantation.
He entered practice at Cedars-Sinai and was a founding member of Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group, and in recent years has been specializing in GI and lung cancers. He was the co-founder of the CSMC BMT program, and has served as Division Chief, Chief of Cancer Committee, and was an active member of the Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, among other administrative responsibilities. He recently retired from active practice after thirty five years and is now happy to focus on teaching and mentoring fellows and residents and helping facilitate optimal patient care as a voluntary staff member at OVMC.
