You are still required to have a valid, current certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

The postgraduate training license (PTL) is required of trainees within 180 days of starting residency. This requires that the Medical Board recognizes your medical school as meeting the requirements equivalent to U.S./Canadian medical school. Qualifying medical schools include those listed by the California Medical Board or on the World Directory of Medical Schools (joint directory of the World Federation for Medical Education and Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research). Therefore, we will only accept graduates of these recognized medical schools.

UCLA Ophthalmology participates in the ophthalmology early match.  If you match in the UCLA Ophthalmology residency program, you will be instructed on registering for NRMP and ranking the Olive View Preliminary Medicine/Ophthalmology track to match through NRMP.  A separate interview is not required.

We consider geographic signals as well as a complement of other important data in creating our rank list.
