Community + Diversity
Olive View Internal Medicine is Family
We seek to support one another and strengthen our program while serving our community—patients and staff alike. It’s a community effort.
Initiatives
POWER Initiative
The Power Initiative formed in the Department of Medicine “to shed light on the pervasive nature of racism, address structural injustice, confront racial and social disparities, and advocate for health equity.” The goal is to address structural racism through self-reflection, education, innovative research, and community engagement.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
The Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) of Olive View created this subcommittee to cultivate equity, diversity, and inclusion in our education and recruitment. This involves a collaborative effort to target our trainees and educators.
Community Giving
Residents, faculty, and staff take part in the gift of giving.
For the last four years, our residency program has “adopted” multiple families during the Holidays. Together, we collect dozens of gifts and deliver them to deserving families.
Advocating for Internal Medicine
Olive View leads a delegation representing Internal Medicine during the annual ACP Leadership Day.
For the past decade, our program has participated in this ACP-organized advocacy event. Dr. Soma Wali, Chair of Medicine, has led our delegation, comprising medical students, residents, and faculty. The group meets with our elected state and national leaders in Sacramento and Washington, DC, to advocate for issues facing our profession.
Together
We are Olive View.
