Outpatient Curriculum
The outpatient curriculum centers on the Ambulatory Medicine “+1” Week. This one-week rotation occurs every 5th week in the 4+1 schedule, providing ample time for longitudinal patient care and learning.
Ambulatory Medicine Week
The Ambulatory Medicine “+1” Week rotation is designed to provide 50% general medicine/continuity clinics and 50% subspecialty and other experiences.
Primary Care Clinic
Residents care for a panel of continuity patients at Olive View or Mid-Valley. Both are part of the county health system. Residents gain robust experience in primary care for underserved patients under the model of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH).

8:00 – 12:00 pm | Primary care, subspecialty, or urgent care clinic — or — Academic half-day for interns on Wednesdays |
12:00 – 1:00 pm | Noon Conference and Lunch |
1:00 – 5:00 pm | General medicine, subspecialty, or urgent care clinic |

Emergency and Urgent Care
Residents rotate through the Emergency Room and Urgent Care Clinic at Olive View, gaining clinical experience with acute medical conditions and procedures.
